Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service (ATSILS)

ATSILS provide high-quality and culturally sensitive legal aid services, so that Indigenous Australians can fully exercise their legal rights as Australian citizens.

The range of services provided includes:

  • Information, initial legal advice, minor assistance and referral
  • Duty lawyer assistance, and
  • Legal casework services for criminal, civil and family law matters.

This program also provides funding for test cases that advance the rights of Indigenous Australians.
